CalcRogue 1.4 (Rebalanced difficulty!)
A downloadable game
V1.4 changes:
- Changed enemy damage calculations
- Enemies now do a more consistent level of damage, now increase exponentially
- Performance improvements
- shouldn't be too noticeable but some calculations that were way too complicated have been simplified significantly
- Changed some messages
- less offensive message for dead enemies [no more pools of blood everywhere]
- poison has a new message
- other changes I don't remember
- Re-balanced potions, weapons and armor
- Potion of weakness now reduces strength less
- Wielding a weapon you are too weak to carry will incur a penalty
- Armor actually works now
- Wearing armor you aren't strong enough to carry means you won't be able to get full performance out of it
Gameplay
Your goal is to reach the 32nd floor and take the Arcane Fragment.
You have to bring it all the way back to the start though!
On the way back you'll find progressively more difficult creatures until you finally either defeat or outsmart the Gallu (great demon or devil of the ancient Mesopotamian Underworld) that guards the Arcane Fragment. The Gallu will follow you back to the entrance though, so watch out!
If you so please you can go deeper than the 32nd floor, but it's not advised... (and untested since I can't make it that far either)
Stats
The main statistic you should worry about is your strength, since this affects your damage and accuracy. Accuracy is computed as the probability you have of successfully damaging an opponent of the same strength level as you.
You increase your strength by defeating enemies stronger than you and by drinking potions of strength.
Health is important too, and you can increase your health by drinking potions of life.
Potions
There are currently 6 potions in the game. 4 of which you should be worrying about.
Potion of Life:
This potion will increase your maximum health points by 1 and heal you completely. Very helpful!
Potion of Strength:
This potion will give you a permanent bonus, guaranteed Strength point. It's magical! If you can't defeat any enemies maybe you need a Potion of Strength to help you out.
Potion of Weakness:
This toxic potion will severely reduce your strength by diffusing into your muscles and reacting harmfully with the very muscle fibers. Beware! The more muscle you have the worse its effects!
Potion of Poison:
This poisonous concoction will deal a random but significant amount of damage to you. Maybe don't risk drinking unmarked potions while very low on health?
Armour and Weapons
At the low end you have your trusty Leather Armour, and at the high end you might find the legendary Mithril Armour if you are very lucky...
Melee weapons range from the simple Dagger to the deadly War Axe.
Breakable Walls
Level generation screwed you over? Don't worry! The crumbling dungeon walls have a chance of shattering under your forceful blow, if you hit them just right.
Enemies
There is a large variety of enemies in the game, but they all have something in common: they don't want you in their dungeon!
In the early layers you'll mostly find rats and goblins, maybe some wolves.
The deeper you go though the tougher the opposition will be.

I won't spoil it for you, go explore!
Gold
If you want more of a challenge, collect gold coins as you make your way down! Deeper levels have more gold trinkets scattered about, and their average value increases the deeper you go!
The Arcane Fragment(s?) is(are?) worth 2000 gold coins, and is necessary to leave the dungeon!
Procedural Level Generation
The levels are procedurally generated based on the input seed you provide. This means different playthroughs with the same seed will take place on the same map. However, your actions in the game will influence the randomness (especially of the monsters) so if you want totally identical playthoughs you'll have to also do the exact same things both times. But where's the fun in that?
Sometimes seeds will generate where the exit is unreachable but this is fairly rare thankfully. In the meantime, the walls are breakable so you can dig your way to the exit. I'm working on a new map generator that would be even more interesting and also provide guaranteed paths through the level, but it's very far from being done (especially since it would be very hard to optimize)
Controls:
Once the program is on your calculator, run "CROGUE" and enter a (numeric) seed.
Use the numpad to move your character around. 8, 2, 6, 4 keys control vertical and horizontal movement respectively, and 7, 9, 1, 3 keys control diagonal movement. The 5 key can be used to clear text off the bottom of the screen.
Most menus can be navigated with the 1 and 2 keys but you can also use the arrow keys to navigate them and then Enter to confirm the selection.

Install instructions
Download the .zip file and extract it to a folder. Inside you'll find two .8xp files (CalcRogue.8xp and CalcRogueFunctions.8xp). Use an application like TI Connect CE to transfer the programs to your calculator. (or use an emulator) Make sure to free up some space on your RAM by deleting programs you don't need and anything else that's using up your RAM (look up how to do it) otherwise CalcRogue may run out of memory in some rare instances.
